Peppol

What is Peppol?

Peppol is a secure cloud network that allows both private businesses and public sector organizations to send and receive electronic documents. Using the network, electronic documents such as Orders (eOrders) and Invoices (eInvoices) are transmitted in a structured data format. As the documents are machine-readable, they can be processed in real-time, eliminating the need for manual entry.

How can I connect to Peppol?

To be able to connect to the Peppol Network, a business needs the help of what is known as a Peppol Access Point (AP). Once a business is connected to the network via an Access Point and they include the Peppol Identifier (Peppol ID) of their recipient on the document, they can immediately send their document through.

When using the Peppol network, it makes no difference whether your recipients use different Access Point providers to you; you just need the one connection to connect to everyone. The sender, the recipient and their respective Access Points will then make up the four corners in this model.

Peppol Four-Corner Model

The Peppol network is based on a four-corner model where organisations can connect to all their partners who are Peppol-enabled by using any approved Peppol Access Point (AP) – such as Celtrino. You, your own Peppol AP, your receiver’s Peppol AP, and your receiver make up the four individual corners in this model. The graphic shows an invoice sent using the Peppol four-corner model.

Celtrino as your Peppol Access Point

For any business contemplating the move to using the Peppol network for electronic data interchanges they will require a Peppol Access Point. The Peppol Access Point (AP) acts as the gateway to the network, and is also the entity that ensures that any electronic documents reach their intended recipient. For B2B and B2G electronic data transactions, the AP enables and ensures their standardised and secure delivery.

Celtrino has been an active participant in the development of Peppol standards since 2012.  We were also the first AP and SMP provider to be authorised by the Irish Office of Government Procurement (OGP) who function as the Peppol Authority of Ireland. Celtrino has been a main provider of einvoicing and Peppol network services to Irish central government departments and local government agencies since 2019. Celtrino has specialised in electronic trading for more than 30 years supporting more than 25 million transactions annually.
